Last week, at the NATO Summit in the Netherlands, President Donald Trump appeared with Queen Maxima, the Dutch queen. After that meeting, the queen went viral thanks to, as the Daily Beast described it, “exaggerated mouth and lip movements immediately after Trump finished speaking while they posed for photos.”

Now, however, the queen is denying that mockery was her intention during the appearance with the president.

“I said ‘thank you’ to someone who had helped,” the queen told Dutch outlet AD. She added that it was “a pleasant experience”  to meet the president during the summit.

“A split-second moment spotted by internet sleuths as Maxima stood beside Trump and her husband, King Willem-Alexander, shows her appearing to move her mouth like the president when he speaks as they made small talk,” was how the New York Post characterized the moment.

The facial expressions, meanwhile, had sparked speculation around the world about the queen’s intentions. Some viewed it as an epic clapback moment, while others took a darker view of the moment. One Fox News talking head, Raymond Arroyo, even declared on the air that “she better be careful. She could get a personalized bunker buster from Daddy Trump if she is not really careful.”

Other social media users had opinions on the international incident that wasn’t:
