Georgia’s top election official, Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, took a phone call from Donald Trump that echoed the president’s call with Ukraine’s leader that got him impeached. Trump is trying to overturn a legitimate election that he lost to President-elect Joe Biden in both the electoral and popular vote — and the recording of the phone call confirmed that. At one point, Trump said, “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.” Trump did not, however, win the state.
The Arizona Republican party’s Twitter feed is always lit as it excuses even the worst of Trump’s dubious endeavors. Whoever runs that account must have been drunk tweeting as he or she wrote, “President Trump sounded really good (strong, clear voice; no static) on the “recording” – he cares about #ElectionIntegrity, as all Americans do. Thank you, Mr. President!”
Former RNC chairman Michael Steele wasn’t having it and wants to know if they’re on drugs.
Are you all high? He tried to engage a conspiracy to violate the Constitution and the US Code by throwing out duly certified votes of citizens. https://t.co/sock9cZgUc

According to CNN’s Jim Acosta, the White House made eighteen attempts to call Raffensperger before Trump’s attempted shakedown over the phone on Saturday. And that prompts the question as to how many different state officials the president has hammered with calls to help him stay in power after he was voted out. And Lordy, there could be more tapes out there. And Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, was on the call as well. At some point, these people need to face charges.
