Just recently, we reported on former Trump spokesperson Alyssa Farah Griffin’s outline of how she thinks Trump’s political future can be weakened and ultimately destroyed. According to the former insider, the ex-president’s Achilles heel lies in his unhinged, erratic endorsements, as he tries to position himself as a “kingmaker” among the GOP, and tosses caution and strategy to the wind.
Now, it certainly looks as though Griffin hit the nail on the head harder than we ever realized.
Recently, Republican senate candidate J.D. Vance managed to secure the “complete and total endorsement” of former President Donald J. Trump in a tight Ohio GOP primary race. And while the endorsement may or may not serve as the extra push Vance needs as a candidate, it certainly looks like it undeniably serves as yet another nail in the coffin of Donald Trump’s political future, thanks to some newly leaked alleged screenshots from Vance’s old roommate.
We were already well aware that J.D. Vance hasn’t always been a fan of the scandal-ridden, one-term, twice-impeached former guy. Even Trump himself admitted in his endorsement announcement, “J.D. Vance may have said some not so great things about me in the past, but he gets it now, and I have seen that in spades.”

It seemed the two made amends as Vance, the venture capitalist and “Hillbilly Elegy” author, went through and deleted all of the many anti-Trump tweets he once published from his social media page just before he announced his run for US Senate. However, it looks like his old roommate kept his receipts.
As it turns out, Democratic state House Rep. Josh McLaurin used to be roommates with Vance back in their Yale Law School days, and according to him, during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Vance expressed his concerns about what a Trump presidency would do to this country — and even went so far as to compare Donald Trump to the likes of Richard Nixon and even Adolf Hitler.
“But I’m not surprised by Trump’s rise, and I think the entire party has only itself to blame,” Vance wrote in a text message, according to screenshots posted on Twitter by his old roommate. “We are, whether we like it or not, the party of lower-income, lower-education white people, and I have been saying for a long time that we need to offer those people SOMETHING (and hell, maybe even expand our appeal to working class black people) or a demagogue would. We are now at that point.”
“Trump is the fruit of the party’s collective neglect,” Vance went on to say, according to McLaurin. “I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler. How’s that for discouraging?”
In his Twitter post, McLaurin explained why he’s now coming forward with these alleged screenshots of Vance’s messages, writing, “The screenshot below is @JDVance1’s unfiltered explanation from 2016 of the breakdown in Republican politics that he now personally is trying to exploit. The ‘America’s Hitler’ bit is at the end. The public deserves to know the magnitude of this guy’s bad faith.”

It’s a bad look, Trump. A very, very bad look.
