Fox Host Confirmed Trump’s Worst Nightmare, Admits “Many Republicans Would Privately Be Very Glad” If The Jan. 6th Committee Irreparably Damaged The Ex-President

It seems the whole party is just done with Donald Trump.

Many of Donald Trump’s allies and supporters have spent the last several days publicly railing against the explosive January 6th public hearings that are shaping up to be every bit as damning for the corrupt former guy as we expected them to be, and then some. But according to one Fox News host, members of Donald’s political party are singing a different tune behind closed doors — one that apparently hopes to see Donald Trump damaged so badly by the public hearings that a 2024 presidential run is completely off the table.

In this week’s episode of Fox’s Special Report, anchor Bret Baier asked his co-host, Britt Hume, “I guess the question still is, are they moving towards trying to make a legal case against Donald Trump, or one that is a political case to somehow prevent him from being a factor in 2024?”

“Well, I think they’re doing both,” Hume answered. “Jamie Raskin, one of the committee members has said, you know, part of what they’re doing is to create something that can be referred to the justice department for possible prosecution.”

The Fox host then offered up a deeper analysis on the possibility that the January 6th House Select Committee may actually be doing Republicans a huge, unspoken favor by damaging Donald Trump’s chances of a securing the 2024 Republican presidential nomination beyond repair:

What strikes me about this, Bret, is that if they succeed – either by damaging him or staining him such that he is either unable or for legal or for political reasons to run again – they might end up finding out that they’ve done the Republican Party a great service, because I think a great many Republicans think they can’t win with Trump at the head of the ticket again. They are afraid of his supporters and don’t want to come out against him directly. But they’d like him to go away. If the effect of this committee is to make his possible candidacy go away, I think a great many Republicans would privately be very glad.”

As it stands, the ongoing investigation into Trump and his inner circle regarding the January 6th Capitol riot is only a legislative investigation. However, numerous members of the House Committee, including Rep. Jamie Raskin, have indicated that their hope is to present the evidence they have collected to the US Department of Justice, in hopes that they will be able to pursue criminal charges against the ex-president and his people for their numerous crimes against this country.
