Ellis, who led the U.S. Army Forces Command, didn’t pull any punches when it came to Trump. He flat-out called Trump “wholly and dangerously unfit for Commander-in-Chief.” The general made it clear that if a soldier behaved like Trump, they’d be kicked out of the military in no time. After years of chaos from Trump and his Republican allies, even the military has had enough!

Twitter user @mdono13 couldn’t resist pointing out the irony in the GOP’s situation: “Great to see. Also find it interesting when @gop screams about former Dem Presidents showing up at the DNC (B. Clinton, Obama), but no one seems to ask them why they couldn’t get GW Bush to show up at the RNC.” Seems like even George W. Bush doesn’t want to be seen with Trump these days.

Meanwhile, Alexandra (@nycbubbles) chimed in with, “Wow. This really is interesting. 🍸” Yes, Alexandra, when retired generals start endorsing the other team, it’s time for a drink.

Ellis isn’t alone in his stance. More than 200 former GOP staffers who worked under Presidents Bush, Romney, and McCain have also endorsed Harris. While they might have different views from Harris on some issues, they all agree on one key point: Trump’s ongoing role in American politics is simply “untenable.” They’re all ready for a change.

As the GOP struggles, Trump keeps defending his messy record. On the anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal, he blamed the Biden administration, ignoring his own role in the chaos. Vice President Harris’s campaign quickly pointed out that Trump had four years to fix things but didn’t. Now, even retired military leaders and long-time Republicans are turning away from Trump. Harris has become an unexpected hero while Trump seems like the villain. And in a twist nobody expected, the GOP’s own veterans are leading the way.
