We’ve read the reports over the past year that shed a light on the way Donald Trump truly felt about his supporters who violently stormed the nation’s Capitol building in his name, in a desperate, pathetic, last-ditch attempt to stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College votes and officially confirming Trump’s brutal loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Hell, we all watched with sickness settling in the pits of our stomachs as Trump so obviously struggled to even call off his supporters on that fateful day as they were actively and very violently tearing at the seams of this nation’s democracy.
We know how he feels about those people who betrayed this country and chose him instead.
But even still, this newest development is difficult to swallow.
A bombshell report from Politico has revealed that one-term, twice-impeached, investigation-ridden ex-President Donald Trump came extremely close to issuing a blanket pardon to all of the individuals who participated in the violent, deadly insurrection at the Capitol building right before he was booted for the White House later that same month.

Politico reports that two different sources with direct knowledge of the situation have revealed that in the weeks directly before he departed the presidency as his one pathetic term came to an end, Donald Trump called an adviser on three different occasions with questions about the idea of a blanket pardon for his insurrectionists.
“Do you think I should pardon them? Do you think it’s a good idea? Do you think I have the power to do it?” Trump reportedly questioned the adviser.
In yet another call to an adviser, Trump allegedly hammered the individual with numerous questions regarding how exactly the Capitol attackers could be charged for what they did and what he could do to protect his supporters with a blanket pardon using the powers of his presidency that he was about to lose.
“Is it everybody that had a Trump sign or everybody who walked into the Capitol?” the then-outgoing president asked. He went on to question who all could be pardoned by him.
“He said, ‘Some people think I should pardon them.’ He thought if he could do it, these people would never have to testify or be deposed,” the adviser recalled Trump stated at the time.
The entire topic has, of course, found its way back into the spotlight this week after Trump all but promised during his weekend MAGA rally in Conroe, TX, that he would issue presidential pardons to those involved in the infamous January 6th siege should he manage to make it back to the White House. He then doubled-down on the notion in a Newsmax interview later in the week. Since then, one member of the House Select Committee that’s currently investigating the Capitol attack and more specifically Trump’s involvement in it has said that Donald’s pardon promises “absolutely” constitutes witness tampering in the probe.
