Iran’s Supreme Leader Just Called Trump A “Clown” During Friday Prayer

He's not wrong!

In the wake of the massive mess that Donald Trump has single-handedly created between the United States and the country of Iran — after he launched an airstrike that assassinated Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and resulted in a retaliation strike from Iran against an American base in Iraq that accidentally took down a Ukranian flight and killed every passenger — Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei decided to make an extremely rare public appearance, in which he aired his thoughts on Trump.

They weren’t good.

Leading today’s public prayer for the first time in eight years, Khamenei did not miss the opportunity to use the public platform to disparage Trump for his decision to launch the airstrike that killed Soleimani — ultimately referring to the president of the United States as a “clown” who only put on a face of compassion for the Iranian people while he geared up to stab them all in the back with a “poisonous dagger.”

“These two weeks were extraordinary and eventful. Bitter and sweet events. Lessons we learned. The Iranian people went through a lot,” said Khamenei, who has recently seen a serious influx in Iranians who are unhappy with him and demand his resignation, to the gathered people this morning.

“We delivered a slap to US’ image as a superpower.”

The Iranian Supreme Leader used the opportunity to criticize Americans as cowardly, but wasn’t nearly as talkative when it came to the retaliation strike issued by Iran that took down the Ukrainian flight full of innocent lives, only quickly referring to it as a “bitter accident.”

“To the same extent that we were saddened and grief-stricken by the plane crash, our enemies were delighted… because they thought that they had been given an excuse to question the Guards and our Armed Forces,” he continued, per a report from BBC Monitoring.

It’s highly unlikely that Khamenei’s decision to appear publicly for the first time years will actually do anything to alleviate the protests that continue to rage against him in the streets of Iran — as thousands of citizens are angry that Iran spent three full days essentially lying about the reason behind the Ukranian plane crash, dodging responsibility for the tragedy and instead blaming it on “technical issues.”

However, while Khamenei certainly isn’t winning any awards in the “best world leader” department, frankly, he hit the nail right on the head with his description of Donald Trump.
