In case you hadn’t heard, Ron DeSantis is really, really big mad at Disney because they won’t shut up and let him be a homophobic bigot in peace. So mad, in fact, that he seems to have made it his life’s mission to not only destroy the “magical” place but do so at the heavy expense of his own damn constituents.
But, for all the time, energy, and effort the Florida Republican governor has put into exacting revenge on “the most magical place on earth,” it looks like DeSantis’ war on poor Mickey Mouse is turning out to be a big ole embarrassing flop.
While certain streaming companies are seeing a pretty massive nosedive in their subscribers right now (**cough** NETFLIX **cough**), it seems Disney+ is just chugging right along without a care in the world, as the company reports an additional 7.9 million subscribers in their most recent fiscal quarter, which brings their total global subscriber base to a whopping 138 million.
If their sky-high subscription numbers on their streaming service weren’t enough to get DeSantis’ knickers in a twist, their theme parks division has also reported doubled revenue this quarter.

On the heels of massive, long-term shutdowns and closures amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney theme parks came back with a huge boom this year, boasting revenues from their parks division that doubled from $3.2 billion to more than $6.6 billion.
The Orlando Sentinel reports Disney CEO Bob Chapek actually personally praised the company’s “fantastic performance” this year, stating that they “continue to fire on all cylinders, powered by strong demand.”
To add to their successes, CFO Christine McCarthy confirmed that both Disneyland and Disney World continue to cap their attendance below their full legal capacity and utilize a reservation system that they created during the pandemic. And yet still continue to see a rising performance.
To be perfectly frank, DeSantis, I do believe you failed. Miserably. The only thing you really accomplished here was screwing your own people half to death. Good luck when your election rolls around.
