They're not joking, Donald.

Today, the January 6th House Select Committee made a bombshell, albeit unsurprising announcement when they publicly confirmed that scandal-ridden ex-President Donald J. Trump “failed to comply” with the subpoena that the panel of investigators issued against him, to compel his sworn testimony regarding the violent January 6th Capitol attack and his personal actions that lead to the fatal violence on that infamous day. The House Panel heavily implied that the former president acted in bad faith and, as such, they issued a clear-cut, brutal warning to the disgraced 45h US president, in which they openly vowed to heavily weigh their “next steps” when it comes to the ex-president and his refusal to cooperate or comply with their investigation.

Yesterday evening, the January 6th House Select Committee issued this brutal announcement:

Former President Trump has refused to comply with the Select Committee’s subpoena requiring him to appear for a deposition.

His attorneys have made no attempt to negotiate an appearance, and his lawsuit parades out many of the same arguments that courts have rejected repeatedly.

Donald Trump orchestrated a scheme to overturn a presidential election and block the transfer of power. He is obligated to provide answers to the American people.

The committee will evaluate next steps in the litigation and regarding the former President’s noncompliance.”

Chairman Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Liz Cheney followed that announcement with their own statement, adding:

Former President Trump has failed to comply with the Select Committee’s subpoena requiring him to appear for a deposition today. Even though the former President initially suggested that he would testify before the committee, he has since filed a lawsuit asking the courts to protect him from giving testimony. His attorneys have made no attempt to negotiate an appearance of any sort, and his lawsuit parades out many of the same arguments that courts have rejected repeatedly over the last year. The truth is that Donald Trump, like several of his closest allies, is hiding from the Select Committee’s investigation and refusing to do what more than a thousand other witnesses have done.”

The final bombshell hearing for the J6 Committee took place several weeks ago and saw a treasure trove of damning never-before-seen evidence, testimonies, and first-hand footage from both inside and outside the Capitol building as the violent, horrifying insurrection was taking place in real-time. That hearing hit a fever pitch when the J6 Committee delivered a unanimous vote in favor of issuing an official subpoena against the former president himself.

Following desperate attempts to delay his testimony, amid public claims that he wanted to appear before the panel, Donald Trump was ordered to appear and deliver his testimony to the panel of House investigators by a deadline of yesterday, November 14th. However, the ex-president’s legal team pumped out a last-minute filing on Friday night that made their fear and desperation as clear as ever when they threw every thought and whim they had into their effort to block the subpoena that ordered Donald Trump’s testimony.

Ultimately, the ex-president was a no-show at today’s scheduled deposition.

It’s assumed that Trump and his legal team are attempting to run out the clock at this point, as Republicans are likely to take back the majority in the House, at which point they have vowed to immediately disband the January 6th House Select Committee and effectively put an end to their investigation.
