Both parties, these days, like to depict their own voters as normal and the supporters of the opposite party as “crazy.” Vice President JD Vance tried just that this week and is getting heavily mocked for it.
Per OK Magazine, Vance gave an interview this week to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in which he declared the Republican Party “the only sane party left.”
“Not saying Republicans are right about every issue, and I know that you and your viewers sometimes disagree with Republican Congressmen… but we’re the only part for common sense and sanity left in the United States of America.

This led to lots of mockery on social media for the assertion, especially considering all of the craziness and lack of normalcy that has been seen throughout the Trump era.
The “only sane party” is currently defending Trump’s algae conspiracy, pretending America’s 250th is his birthday party, and treating basic oversight like treason.
JD, sane compared to what — the comment section under a fireworks GIF? https://t.co/SGNvslXOXt

@JDVance OK, you’re the only common sense party left. What this country needs you to be is the anti-racist, anti-grift, anti-sycophantic, anti-Epstein-and so much more party. https://t.co/7lOQ7DZ90q

Despite doubts about his credibility with the MAGA base, Vance nevertheless leads a recent poll of 2028 Republican presidential hopefuls, albeit with just 35 percent support, compared to 15 percent for Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Donald Trump Jr. is third in that poll at 14 percent, with no other candidate in double digits.
