Wednesday gave every indication of being an unremarkable day at the White House, right up until Fox News broke from regular programming for Trump’s departure and presented its audience with footage that nobody in the control room could have anticipated.
The 80-year-old president made his way to his Cadillac Escalade, got one foot through the door, and then leaned back against his other leg to summon enough momentum to complete what should have been a straightforward entry into the vehicle. The moment lasted only a few seconds.
🚨BREAKING: just moments ago Donald Trump was seen struggling to enter a vehicle, trying to maintain his balance just to step his foot in.
When is the media going to write books about HIS obvious decline? pic.twitter.com/5Dvv127EZB

His own supporters on Fox News were not exactly lining up to defend him.

He should be at a nursing home not at the White House.
25th Amendment Now!— Reggie B. (@reggiebblue) July 1, 2026
Trump’s Health continues to fail every day.
He shouldn’t be having trouble entering a vehicle like this.
It may be time to invoke the 25th amendment.

Trump’s balance sheet now includes balance problems. When your biggest obstacle is a car door, maybe it’s time to declassify your own health report. https://t.co/rqIhOKQuRv

Concerns about Trump’s physical condition have been accumulating since the earliest days of his second term, with his stamina drawing repeated scrutiny after he appeared to fall asleep during multiple high-profile occasions.
He was spotted dozing during a Memorial Day ceremony, nodded off during a Cabinet meeting while Marco Rubio discussed the Iran war, and appeared to fall asleep at Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. When a congressman confronted Rubio with video evidence, the Secretary of State looked directly at the footage and insisted the president was not sleeping but room was not persuaded.
The physical picture beyond the fatigue has been just as difficult to look past. Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency last year, a condition in which veins struggle to return blood to the heart, producing persistently swollen legs. His physician recommended compression socks. Trump tried them, told the Wall Street Journal he “didn’t like them,” and quietly stopped.
Pronounced bruising has continued appearing across both hands, which Trump attributes to his daily aspirin intake, a dosage his own doctors have repeatedly urged him to reduce. He has declined, explaining to the Journal: “I’m a little superstitious.” A journalist covering his North Dakota visit this week noted the discoloration appeared to be spreading, with one X user adding: “Almost looks deformed now.”
