This is unbelievable.

America still isn’t done fuming over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and no one should be. The fact that a man who has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women could be a Supreme Court Justice (or the President of the United States) is despicable and the Republican Party is going to pay for it — especially after this spineless interview.

America saw a glimmer of hope in Republican Sen. Jeff Flake a few weeks ago, when he appeared to have been moved by the stories of sexual assault victims and delayed Kavanaugh’s confirmation so an FBI investigation could be conducted. However, Flake disappointed the country by voting in the judge’s favor anyway, like the true coward he is.

Weeks later, Flake cannot even stand behind his decision — today he confessed to not being able to fully believe in Kavanaugh’s innocence. In an interview on ABC’s The View, Flake said he couldn’t decide whether he believed Kavanaugh or his accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Flake said:

You know, she was very compelling. [Kavanaugh] was very persuasive. I don’t know. I don’t know. I wish I had the certitude that some of my colleagues expressed. But I said on the [Senate] floor before that hearing, we’re likely to hear the hearing with as much doubt as certainty. And that’s how I felt afterwards.”

Co-host Joy Behar grilled Flake on why Kavanaugh was still kept as an option instead of another nominee on Trump’s list. Flake said a “mere allegation” couldn’t disqualify Kavanaugh. He said:

If the mere allegation with no corroboration is sufficient to disqualify someone, we’ve entered a new phase that we probably don’t want to enter.”

The kicker of the interview came when View co-host Sunny Hostin asked Flake if he believed Ford’s testimony and claims, and he said:

I don’t know. I don’t know if I believed him either.”

Holy crap. Do we really want this kind of ambivalence and cowardice running our government and making major decisions? You can watch the video below:
