If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about members of the Republican party in all my years of covering politics, it’s the fact that they never really seem to know, understand, or accept that they’re not generally well-liked people. They live within the small bubble of their own base and I suppose just assume that the rest of the world has all the same love and admiration for them as their bubble of voters does. But the fact of the matter is, out here in the real world, we simply do not.
Most Americans believe in compassion for their fellow humans. We believe that every living soul deserves food, water, and shelter. We believe in equality. We believe that everyone deserves fair and equal access to healthcare. We believe that no one should ever have to crowdfund to save themselves or their child. We believe women should have the right to make decisions for their own bodies. Basically, we stand for everything the GOP stands against. So, to say the very least, we don’t support these Republican politicians and we don’t trust them as far as we can throw them.
But nevertheless, it seems the GOPers just don’t take a hint.
Today, Republican Rep. Jim Jordan got a cold, hard lesson on this fact when he sent out a tweet polling his 2 million Twitter followers on trust — only to have his ass handed to him in the comments.
In a tweet, Jordan asked tweeters who they trusted less; Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert who has helped guide the American people through the most horrific pandemic we’ve ever seen in our lifetimes, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, the House intelligence committee chair who helped steamroll Donald Trump’s first impeachment in the House, or House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who’s been a force to reckon with against Trump and the GOP and also led the charge in both the impeachments against the ex-president.

Jordan, of course, was one of the leaders of the pack in trying to overturn President Biden’s election win and has diligently peddled Donald’s numerous election lies.
Unsurprisingly, the responses to his makeshift poll were likely not what he was hoping for:
I trust every one of them, I don’t trust you or any Republicans except @AdamKinzinger and @Liz_Cheney because everything you guys did was to attack the Democratic Party. And that’s one of many reasons why I am a former Republican.

I have ZERO trust in @Jim_Jordan. He covered up the sexual assaults at Ohio State, spreads Russian Misinformation Campaigns & continues to spread #Trump‘s #BigLie@Jim_Jordan FAILED to meet his job requirement. He has performance difficulties which cannot easily be corrected

The jacket-less motherfucker who kept child molestation a secret is the one I trust the least.

Remind me — which one of them ignored the sexual assaults of student athletes?

There’s a lesson to be learned here, Gym: Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to.
