Lara Trump Doesn’t Seem To Understand That Microsoft Word’s Assistant, Formerly Known As “Clippy,” Isn’t A Real Person That’s Spying On Her Documents

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Apparently, Fox host and honorary Trump family member Lara Trump doesn’t actually understand how, well, anything works.

While hosting a recent segment on the ultra Right-wing network, Eric Trump’s wife inadvertently declared to the world that she doesn’t understand how artificial intelligence works. Like… At all.

Trump was discussing — nay, ranting — about the recent update within Microsoft Word that now allows the software’s spellcheck program to suggest more inclusive wording in a Word document, such as suggesting that users change words like “postman” to “letter carrier” and “mankind” into “humankind.” This move on Microsoft’s part has unsurprisingly become the Right’s most recent target against “wokism,” a “movement” in which they essentially target anything that’s done out of politeness or inclusivity in mainstream society.

But it seems that Lara doesn’t grasp or understand the fact that Microsoft’s new program is just that — a program. More specifically, an artificial intelligence program that’s been “taught” to pick up on certain trigger words and offer pre-approved suggestions in their place. Instead, it seems as though Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law thinks that there’s a real person behind the AI “office assistant” program, formerly dubbed the loveable “Clippy,” who’s devoting every moment of their day to watching, reading, and correcting Lara Trump’s Word documents.

“Someone is reading this?!” Lara fumed during the segment, clearly appalled by the scenario she made up in her head and could have discovered the truth about with a quick Google search. “And assessing what I’m writing?”

Microsoft itself notes in a statement that the “office assistant” program can easily be disabled:

The checker can be turned on and off in a menu called ‘Grammar & Refinements’, which lists everything it checks: Age bias, Cultural bias, Ethnic slurs, Gender bias, Gender-Neutral Pronouns, Gender-Specific Language, Racial Bias, Sexual Orientation Bias and Socioeconomic Bias.”

Lara goes on to compare Microsoft’s “office assistant” to her new keyless car, which only requires that users press a push-button start to start the car. According to Trump, her car won’t start unless she jingles and jiggles the keys around. Personally, I’d love to be a fly on the wall as Eric’s wife attempts to start her ride, jiggling the keys like a fool in some parking lot or driveway, as that’s absolutely not how a push-button, keyless start car works. At all.

In fact, vehicles like Lara is referring to here feature a safety mechanism that requires the car to be in park, your foot on the break, and your key fob in the car with you before it will start.

Evidently, she just doesn’t know how it works. Much like she has no clue how Microsoft Office or artificial intelligence works.

But then again, when has a lack of knowledge and understanding ever kept a Trump from running their mouth? It’s certainly clear that Lara married into the right family.

Was the crisis in Afghanistan surrounding the pull out of American Troops Biden's fault or Trump's fault?
