Not the best look

Out of an entire summer’s worth of photos Lara Trump posted Wednesday, one single image did all the talking.

The photo showed her and husband Eric Trump both angled toward the camera, Lara positioned in front while Eric held onto both of her arms from behind.

Something about the grip struck people as off.

“What a weird photo,” one person wrote, cutting straight to it. Someone else zeroed in on the arm placement specifically: “Eric let her go!” A third landed somewhere between confused and amused: “Perhaps the weirdest pose ever.” One more just called it what it was: “Such an awkward picture pose.”

Defenders showed up just as quickly. “Love is one of the most important thing on earth, congratulations sir and ma,” one fan wrote. Another kept it to two words: “Lovely couple!” A third went with hearts instead of sentences: “We love you guys!!!”

The photo sat alongside a much less contentious lineup. There were drinks with friends, a horseback ride, and shots of the couple’s two kids, Eric “Luke” Trump and Carolina Dorothy Trump.

This isn’t the only recent Lara moment that needed a follow-up explanation. Days before this post, she’d faced criticism for appearing to check her watch during Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral on July 28, and she addressed it directly in a video posted to X.

She explained her children were at camp in New York while she attended the service in Washington. “Sometime around the middle of this whole thing, it was about two hours plus we were there. I, on my Apple Watch, start getting phone calls, several, from the camp that my kids go to. Well, any parent knows that that is not, that’s not good,” she said.

“That means there’s a problem. That means they may need to reach me. That means someone is hurt or something. So I did what any parent would do and I tried to very discreetly inquire as to what was going on so that I could at least know that I had the ability to stay seated in the funeral.”

She wasn’t thrilled with how it had been covered. “But the only thing you’ll see is, ‘Laura Trump checks her watch’ like I’m checking the time. Get over yourselves.”

Lara has become one of the more visible Trump family members online lately, splitting her time between family posts and her role hosting Fox News’s My View with Lara Trump.
