Legal Expert Expects Trump To Shamelessly Use And Exploit His Wife Melania As His Key Defense In Scandalous Hush Money Case

This wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Donald Trump got terrible news this morning when a New York judge denied his motion to dismiss the infamous Manhattan Hush Money case against him and instead ruled that the scandal-plagued ex-president will stand trial next month.

Now, one legal expert is speaking out with his theory that Donald has one particular, key card he will almost undoubtedly play in his shakey legal defense in this case — his own wife.

Donald Trump has certainly never been above exploiting those closest to him for his own personal gain, and his third wife of nearly 20 years and mother of his youngest child is no exception to that rule.

Speaking with Newsweek, famed attorney and professor Andrew Weissmann said he fully expects the former president’s defense in the hush money case to be built on the notion that he ordered payments to be made to adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 presidential election, not because of the election itself, but because he didn’t want his wife to find out about his extramarital affairs.

Prosecutors with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office are slated to argue that Donald Trump not only ordered hush money payments to Daniels and McDougal but then proceeded to falsify business records in an attempt to hide those payments. The former president has since been charged with 34 felony counts in the hush money case, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.

Weissmann said, “I see the defense as being more about, ‘I wanted to keep this away from my wife. It had nothing to do with the election, it had to do with my wife,’ but even there … there are very strong facts against that scenario.”

“The allegation is that he didn’t really care if this came out after the election. Well, if you were really trying to keep it from your wife, then you would never want it coming out. It won’t be that you were ok with telling her, but you were waiting for the election to be over,” he explained.

We have no doubt that Trump has no qualms with exploiting his own wife if it means even a chance at saving his own skin — we just don’t think it will work.
