In case you hadn’t noticed in the media cycle this week, scandal-ridden former President Donald Trump has suffered quite an intense wave of legal blows and setbacks lately, which shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. It seems every time you turn on the news or scroll through social media over the last few days, the ex-president is being served with yet another legal loss. Now, former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade has weighed in on the recent series of setbacks for the former guy and offered up a few of her own interesting theories on what’s really going on here, as everything seems to be falling apart for Donald Trump at an alarming rate.

McQuade sat down for a discussion with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart this morning and was quick to note that she was frankly stunned by a ruling recently handed down by a judge that ordered the US Department of Justice to respond to a court motion in a matter of six short hours, overnight. The judge ordered that the DOJ’s response should be completed by the very next morning and McQuade is confident that this extremely intense move is highly indicative of what the disgraced former president can expect moving forward as multiple indictments, across multiple entities and jurisdictions, hover over his head.

Capehart questioned of the recent bombshell development, “Am I reading too much into it, by how quickly that court made this determination?” Going on to explain, “Where Judge Beryl [Howell] says, ‘no attorney-client privilege,’ then the new chief judge comes in says, ‘hey, wait a minute,’ then almost immediately says, ‘oh no, Trump attorneys, you’ve got until midnight. [Special counsel] Jack Smith, you’ve got until six am to respond to the midnight filing.’ That is, in and of itself, a significant development.”

McQuade didn’t mince her words when she admitted in response, “That is the most extraordinary briefing schedule I’ve ever heard in my life. The Justice Department had between midnight and 6 am to file their response? I’ve never seen anything like that. I don’t know the reason.”

The former U.S. attorney went on to explain her thoughts on the matter, and added one particular theory that caught our interest — something may have happened, or could be actively happening, that’s massive in nature, but just hasn’t made its way into public knowledge yet.

“It could be that they don’t want Donald Trump dragging his feet — it could be that there was something occurring there that they were needing to beat that’s not known to the public,” McQuade said. “It could even be that the documents had already been turned over, and so, they were trying to avoid a scenario where there was a reversal after the horse was out of the barn, so to speak.”

“I don’t know, but it does seem that judges are getting Trump’s number, in terms of not giving him a lot of time to delay the quest for justice,” McQuade concluded.

Frankly, things are bad enough for Donald Trump, just taking into account the things that are already a matter of public knowledge. Truly, God only knows what is going on behind closed doors.
