This is unacceptable.

So, allow me to preface the following with this: I am a chronically ill individual. I have a myriad of health issues, some of which are severe. For those various chronic health issues, I take a variety of medications, many of which have seriously sedating effects.

With that being said, under the influence of those medications or not, I have NEVER, not once done what this woman did.

I’ve never even considered it.

Recently, Louisiana Judge Michelle Odinet found herself under severe fire, which she absolutely deserved, when a cellphone video of security footage from her home was posted to several social media platforms, in which Judge Odinet and several others can be heard in the background shouting numerous racial slurs.

Yes, they used that word.

Now, the Louisiana Judge has broken her silence to tell the world her excuse for her inexcusable behavior — and let me just say, it’s nowhere near acceptable.

Speaking with local News 10 regarding the footage of her use of racial slurs, Odinet blamed what she did on a combination of a home invasion and sedatives to help calm her nerves.

According to the judge, she and her family were the victims of an armed burglary at their home in the upscale area of Bendel Gardens.

“My children and I were the victim of an armed burglary at our home. The police were called and the assailant was arrested. The incident shook me to my core and my mental state was fragile,” the judge tried to explain.

Lafayette police have responded to the break-in accordingly, arresting and charging 59-year old Ronald Handy with two counts of simple burglary. He is being held in the Lafayette Parish Jail on a $10,000 bond.

However, Lafayette Police Sgt. Paul Mouton tells News 10 that the suspect didn’t actually have a weapon on his person at the time of his arrest, contradicting the judge’s claims that the burglar was armed.

“I was a wreck and am still unable to sleep,” Odinet said. In direct response to the allegations of racial slurs lobbed against her, she claimed, “I was given a sedative at the time of the video. I have zero recollection of the video and the disturbing language used during it.”

“Anyone who knows me and my husband, knows this is contrary to the way we live our lives. I am deeply sorry and ask for your forgiveness and understanding as my family and I deal with the emotional aftermath of this armed burglary.”

Yea. Not good enough. Not even close.
