Marla Maples, who was married to Donald Trump for six years in the 1990s, recently came to his defense following Vice President Kamala Harris’s remarks comparing Trump’s leadership style to that of Adolf Hitler. Harris referenced a report from The Atlantic, which claimed Trump had previously expressed admiration for Hitler’s ability to command loyalty from his generals, allegedly wishing for similar loyalty within the U.S. military. Former Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly corroborated this, claiming Trump had remarked that Hitler did some “good things” for Germany. Trump, however, denies making such statements.

Harris addressed the report during a CNN town hall, referring to Trump as a “fascist” and cautioning that his ambitions could jeopardize constitutional principles if he regained office. She later expanded on her comments on social media, writing that Trump “wants a military like Adolf Hitler had, who will be loyal to him, not our Constitution,” adding that he is “unhinged” and would likely pursue his “worst impulses” if unchecked.

Conservative commentator Dave Rubin responded to Harris’s post, calling it an incitement to violence, while Elon Musk echoed this sentiment, describing it as “major incitement” against Trump.

Maples, the mother of Tiffany Trump, joined the defense by sharing Musk’s post, claiming that Harris’s comments spread “horrific lies” about Trump. She added that Tiffany was raised with values rooted in Christianity and a knowledge of Hebrew and Aramaic, the languages of Jesus. Encouraging people to support Trump, she endorsed both him and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., asking voters to back those who “risk their lives for all Americans.”

However, Maples’s defense of Trump didn’t go unchallenged. Many critics immediately pointed out that Trump, who has been convicted on felony charges, hardly exemplifies Christian values. Several noted the irony in Maples’s statements, questioning how a convicted felon facing numerous other legal battles could represent the moral or Christian leadership she described. The backlash highlighted discrepancies between Trump’s legal record and the faith-based image Maples attempted to convey, with some arguing that his actions contradict the very principles of integrity and compassion central to Christian teachings.
