Melania hated it.

Ever since Donald Trump came down that ridiculous escalator nearly half a decade ago now, I and millions of other Americans have had a sneaking suspicion that his third wife Melania Trump had absolutely no desire to be involved in any of her husband’s political aspirations. As we watched the former “model” go through the motions of the four long years her husband spent in office, Mel’s distaste for the whole thing became more and more clear.

On more than one occasion, it seemed that the former First Lady had a tendency to be caught wearing her heart on her sleeve, so to speak — whether it be facial expressions during her husband’s incessant speeches, rebuffed attempts on Trump’s part to hold her hand, or leaked audio recordings between herself and her former BFF talking about little she cares about “fucking Christmas.”

And now it seems that a new tell-all book has all but confirmed our suspicions.

According to an excerpt of Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender’s new book, Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost, obtained by the Daily Mail, Melania Trump wasn’t fond of the social events that were held at the White House during her husband’s reign of terror — especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic that she evidently took much more seriously than her husband.

According to the book, Melania felt that hosting an elaborate election extravaganza would be dangerous during the pandemic, especially considering she and her husband both had contracted and overcame the potentially deadly virus just weeks before the election.

In her position as the First Lasy, Melania oversaw all of the social events that were held at the White House, with Bender’s book noting “if it was up to her, there would be no White House parties during the pandemic.” The tell-all goes on to note that Mrs. Trump also didn’t care for overtly political events being held in the White House.

“The constant use of the White House for blatantly political purposes also made her uncomfortable,” Bender writes, noting that Melania allegedly told then chief-of-staff Mark Meadows “no” three separate times in regard to the election event. Ultimately, it was decided that they would use the Trump Hotel just five blocks from the White House, but that plan when wayside as well when it was determined that Washington D.C.’s COVID restrictions wouldn’t allow for it.

“We’ll be talking to our licensee, which is the hotel,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said at the time.

Still, Melania Trump was against it, once again telling Meadows no. According to the book, Donald ultimately broke down and phoned his wife from Air Force One, pretty much begging her to allow the party to take place in the People’s House.

“This is your night—do what you’re going to do,” Melania reportedly told him. “You’re going to do it anyway.”

Even after her husband lost the 2020 election, Melania was still forced to go through the motions of the incessant political and social events being held at the White House, including the holiday parties — which typically feature thousands of people over weeks of celebration. In the end, the former First Lady managed to cut the guest list down to 200 people but the scarcity of openings for the event made them a hot commodity, leaving people far more desperate to get in, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. The book claims Noem “wanted to attend multiple Christmas parties and wouldn’t take no for an answer.”

“Fine,” Melania reportedly gave in. “You know what? If she wants to get Covid that bad, that’s up to her.”
