If over the last year-plus following the Capitol attack, you found yourself thinking or at least wondering if perhaps ex-Vice President Mike Pence had somehow grown a spine — he hasn’t. Full stop.
To be frank, the American people have been aware for some time now that Donald J. Trump knew full and well that his rabid, angry supporters were inside the Capitol building when he sent out a very pointed tweet, calling his own vice president a “coward” for refusing to go along with his unhinged coup plan, after Trump demanded that Pence refuse to certify the Electoral College votes in Joe Biden’s favor, in his capacity as the US vice president — a plan that Pence himself has publicly stated that he did not have the legal right to enact. The January 6th House Select Committee has since confirmed that this specific tweet from Donald Trump, in the midst of the violent Capitol siege, only served to cause his supporters to “surge.”
Throughout their investigation and public hearings, the House Panel has also confirmed that the Proud Boys — the very same unhinged, ultra Right-wing militia that Donald Trump told to “stand back and stand by” — went to the US Capitol building on January 6th, 2021, with the full intention of murdering Mike Pence, should they find the chance. Donald’s supporters marched through the Capitol grounds and building chanting and calling for Mike Pence’s “hanging,” as they displayed nooses all around. With all of this violence and all of these threats, Donald Trump said his vice president “deserved it.”
All of this stemmed from the biggest presidential lie in all of American history — now aptly dubbed Donald Trump’s “Big Lie.”

But yet here we are, all the same after Mike Pence has now declared this week that he has never seen a US president who lies as much as… President Joe Biden.
Pence made an appearance on Fox News with host Larry Kudlow of Fox Business, with Kudlow asking the former vice president, referring to President Biden, “Have you ever seen a president who refused to accept blame and commits so many falsehoods — I’m being very polite here calling it falsehoods — who on any given day is out there saying stuff that just isn’t true? Have you ever seen anything like that?”
“Never in my lifetime,” Pence answered. “I said today that there has never been a time in my life when a president was more disconnected from the American people.”
