Mike Pence Publicly Fact-Checks Trump On His Ukraine Claim

Who knew Mike Pence had a spine?

It’s becoming more apparent daily that former Vice President Mike Pence dislikes his ex-boss, President Donald Trump. Especially Wednesday, when Pence challenged Trump over his comments about Ukraine. As in one particular whopper where Trump insisted Ukraine started the war.

Mr. President, Ukraine did not “start” this war. Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. The Road to Peace must be built on the Truth.🇺🇸🇺🇦

“Russia Invades Ukraine in Largest European Attack Since WWII”
@FoxNews”

Earlier Wednesday, Trump raged on Truth Social, accusing Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky of “going into a war that couldn’t be won.”

Trump is fact-resistant as usual here, and Pence knows it. Plenty of social media users also know this.

@MGenius15636 called Trump’s remarks “Disgusting and shameful. An American president is spreading Russian propaganda. I don’t know who you are trying to convince, but you will never convince those who didn’t vote for you. The lies that you’re spreading about Ukraine.”

Trump was also schooled by @SH19544, who told him:

“Hello Mr. Trump,@realDonaldTrump

Zelensky also graduated in law. I think you are not aware of that.
There are no millions killed since 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine. Stalin was responsible for a million deaths. Russia’s actions look like Stalin’s playbook. Chechnya was utterly destroyed by Russia.
Dudayev’s last interview in 1995, just a few months before Russia assassinated him exp, explains a lot. “Victory over fascism and rise of Ruscism’.”

@RussOnPolitics called him out for his broken promises:

“Donald Trump is turning the United States into a pariah. An outcast among nations. Attacking allies left, right, and center: Canada, Panama, Ukraine, Denmark. You asked for it, America. You got it. How are them egg prices, BTW, huh?”

Trump has alienated countries like Panama, Canada, Ukraine, and Denmark with his bombastic comments, and he has made an enemy out of Pence due to the way he attacked him during the Jan.6, 2021 siege at the U.S. Capitol. Most of us have seen Pence as wishy-washy but it appears he has a backbone.

And social media users commended him for that.

@EdKrassen posted:

“Thank you Mr. Pence. America needs more people to stand up against Trump’s pro-Putin propaganda!”

@Ronxyz wrote:

Never before has an American president sidelined our ally (Ukraine) and cave to the demands of an authoritarian regime (Russia). All Republicans must stand up and say NO to Trump.”

@dave43law wrote:

“The level of delusion and fantasy in Trump’s post is beyond a joke for any Leader let alone a President. The condemnation will be world wide and it makes Trump appear as a Putin asset – singing to his tune. Even the fugures are grossly inaccurate”

Pence did have some detractors, however. Like @19Goldstein84

“You are not only irrelevant, but you are a liar as well Unprovoked? Do you call Western Ukraine literally trying to exterminate Russians and the Russian language and culture in Eastern Ukraine “unprovoked?” How about the Azov battalion and Ukraine’s “Nazi problem?”

But it seems to me that the flames surrounding the “Nazi problem” are being fanned by Trump who is actually the one becoming a dictator. He is causing a real crisis of democracy in the U.S. and by attacking Zelensky, he’s creating a distraction.

Trump is not intelligent, but he is a major-league schemer. And maybe this is another one of his schemes.
