Rock legend Neil Young is NOT a fan of Donald Trump, and he let him know it by offering him a song to play at one of his next rallies.

During his July 4th COVID party at Mount Rushmore, Trump played several Neil Young hits despite the singer specifically telling Trump not to do so.

The song “Rockin’ in the Free World” is apparently Trump’s favorite Young hit to play at his rallies, but Young understandably does not want Trump to play his music because it suggests Young supports him and his agenda. He doesn’t. That song doesn’t even remotely support Trump’s agenda, and it’s clear he’s never read the lyrics.

After the event, Young wrote an open letter to Trump once again requesting him to stop, but said he won’t sue Trump because he feels like doing so would be too much of a distraction during the current crisis.

Of course, Trump is busy not caring about the pandemic, which is why he’s trying to force schools to reopen.

As an alternative to those songs, Young informed Trump that there’s one song he can play at his rallies. And Young recorded it just for him.

“I suggest you listen to my song ‘Looking for a Leader 2020,’ available on my website, neilyoungarchives.com as part of a work I recently completed with my wife—’The Porch Episode,’ as I believe it would be an interesting addition to your next rally,” Young wrote.

Here are the lyrics via Sound Nexus:

Yeah we had Barack Obama,
And we really need him now.
The man who stood behind him
Has to take his place somehow.”

“America has a leader
Building walls around our house
Don’t know Black lives matter,
and we’ve got to vote him out.”

“We got our election
But corruption has a chance
We got to have a big win
to regain confidence
America is beautiful
But she has an ugly side
We’re looking for a leader in this country far and wide.”

I’m pretty sure that Trump is not going to play that song at his next rally. It will probably drive him mad though, and for that, we salute Mr. Young for his effort.
