Donald Trump escalated his demand that schools reopen this fall by directly threatening to cut off their funding if they do not do so.
The coronavirus is currently ravaging the nation as tens of thousands of new cases are recorded daily. More than 130,000 Americans have died, including children. Yet Trump wants schools to reopen over the objection of fearful parents and reluctant school staff who do not want schools to become the next epicenter of this virus.
After all, this virus has proven that it will kill, especially if an infected person has an underlying condition, which millions of children do. Some may not even know it.
That puts these kids at serious risk, but Trump is so desperate to declare victory over the pandemic and improve the economy that he is willing to bet the lives of children on it. And that’s why he threatened to cut funding from any school that chooses not to reopen.
In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!

The fact is that schools in the countries Trump mentioned are not open yet, and these countries — aside from Sweden — have worked hard to flatten the curve and reduce the number of new cases. The United States has not done that because Trump demanded that the country reopen earlier than health experts recommended. That’s why our case numbers have exploded and why we have the highest death toll in the world.
Americans fact-checked Trump and scolded him for not caring about our kids.
To be clear, Democrats are not advocating for schools to remain shut down nationwide. They are advocating for precautions to be taken and for parents to have the option of virtual schools. Stop trying to make this a political issue. It’s about our children, not your re-election

bruh, these are countries (aside from Sweden, which is a disaster) that successfully managed their Covid outbreaks. as opposed to, y’know, the virulent pest-hole that your incompetence has allowed America to become

Local schools, especially in hard hit areas or where there is a large elderly population that could come into contact with schoolkids either directly or indirectly, should have the freedom to decide whether reopening is safe without the President threatening to cut off funding.

Exactly. We had 12 New cases yesterday (24 hours). Greetings from Denmark.

Donald Trump doesn’t care about the health and well-being of children. He’s only concerned about his failing re-election. 😳 Shameful.

They also don’t have 130,000 plus Coronavirus deaths, cases rising daily, and dumbfucks that support you not wearing masks!!!!
Fuck off!!!!!

First, their schools are not open right now, you liar. Second, Germany, Denmark and Norway have done what you failed to do: combat the spread of the virus. Your catastrophic failure will necessitate opening our schools later than those three countries open their schools.

Reopening schools is a mistake that will come back to bite us. If even one child dies because a school was forced to reopen too early, it’s all on Trump and he should be held legally responsible.
