There’s been a lot of attention paid this month to current and former NFL players and their views on President Donald Trump. This has included public disagreement between New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and defensive lineman Abdul Carter.

The latest in the crosshairs is retired Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas, who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This week, Thomas met with the president in Wisconsin. According to a Yahoo News report, Trump didn’t appear to recognize Thomas at first, even as he praised him as “one hell of a specimen.”

“It was great meeting @realDonaldTrump and @SecretarRollins today in God’s country and having an opportunity to highlight some of the major issues that need addressing for family farmers and BEEF producers in this country!,” Thomas posted to X, over a video of their appearance together. Thomas owns a cattle ranch and farm in Wisconsin.

Some fans were critical of the NFL great for meeting with the president, especially during the budding screw room crisis that has devastated beef producers.
