Each and every time I see reporting on something like this, it always puts me in mind of the late, beloved Mr. Fred Rogers. The Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood host once said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'”

When you truly pay attention, you begin to notice and realize how much these sweet and calming words really do ring true, no matter how big or small the situation. From the people rallying around the citizens of Ukraine as they fight for their freedoms and their home, to a woman whose life was likely saved by a group of unnamed good Samaritans in the midst of a medical emergency that left her incapacitated in a runaway car — You will always find people who are helping.

Florida’s local ABC 25 WPBF News reports that the Boynton Beach Police Department is now on the search for a group of good Samaritan strangers who, through sheer willpower, brought a rolling vehicle to a stop after the woman behind the wheel suffered a medical episode that left her slumped over the steering wheel, and her car rolling forward into oncoming traffic.

According to the report, a Florida woman began to suffer a sudden medical episode while behind the wheel of her car, with he co-worker as a passenger. Police say that the co-worker jumped out of the car upon realizing that the driver was slumped over and attempted to stop traffic as the car continued to slowly roll through a busy intersection. While attempting to direct traffic, the incapacitated driver’s co-worker grabbed the attention of other motorists on the road, who came together to pull the car to a complete stop.

The report notes that the good Samaritans used a dumbbell to smash open a rear window and direct the car into a nearby parking lot.

The Boynton Beach Police shared footage of the incredible feet in an effort to garner recognition for the people who helped save lives.

One of those good Samaritans was Davita Peele.

“They’re nervous and scared and I’m like, just close your door,” Peele said of the children in her car with her. Once she directed them to stay in the car, Peele got out and began directing traffic around the rollaway car.

“I got out of my car because people started to blow through the light change and people didn’t see what was going on so I’m like ok just go around don’t go this way, go that way,” she said.

Peele can be seen wearing her U.S. Postal Service uniform in the footage, having just gotten off from her job delivering mail.

“I had just got off of work so I was like, let me stop at Home Depot because usually, I would’ve been in that straight lane going home,” she explained. Her last-minute decision helped potentially save the incapacitated driver.

“I helped someone avoid getting into an even worse accident,” she said.
