Old Clip Resurfaces, Appears to Back Up Assange Lawyer’s Claims of Trump Pardon

Lordy, there's a tape.

Julian Assange’s lawyer told a British court on Wednesday that former Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) passed a message to Assange from Donald Trump that if the WikiLeaks founder agreed to cover up Russian involvement in the hacking of DNC emails that the “president” would pardon him. The problem here is that all the characters in this scenario are shady. Trump is a habitual liar. Assange is a tight-lipped shadowy figure, and Rohrabacher acts like he’s Putin’s fuckboi.

The White House is quickly trying to distance itself from this entire shitshow. Meanwhile, Rohrabacher is denying the allegations.

“At no time did I offer Julian Assange anything from the president because I had not spoken with the president about this issue at all,” Rohrabacher wrote 0n his blog. “However, when speaking with Julian Assange, I told him that if he could provide me information and evidence about who actually gave him the DNC emails, I would then call on President Trump to pardon him.”

“At no time did I offer a deal made by the president, nor did I say I was representing the president,” he added.

However, Rohrabacher told a Los Angeles media outlet in September 2017 that he took part in a “confidential interaction” with the White House for Assange. And it sounds similar to the claims Assange’s attorney made today.

Watch:

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham told reporters: “The president barely knows Dana Rohrabacher other than he’s an ex-congressman. He’s never spoken to him on this subject or almost any subject” even though Trump invited Rohrabacher to the White House in April 2017 after seeing the then-congressman on Fox News defending the “president.”
