Just months away from the presidential election, Donald Trump announced that he would send law enforcement to more U.S. cities, and interestingly, the cities he’s targeting are all Democratically-controlled. The federal crackdown on anti-racism protesters in Portland, Oregon with unmarked cars and unidentified forces outraged people across the country. Jaw-dropping scenes were captured on video, and we’re wondering where those second amendment folks are that have claimed to need to hoard many guns in case of a government crackdown on American citizens.
Trump cited New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, Baltimore, Oakland, and California, as places he may send federal agents and went as far as to note that the cities’ mayors were “liberal Democrats.”
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner isn’t taking Donald’s shit and vowed to criminally charge any federal agents who “unlawfully assault” or “kidnap” Black Lives Matter protesters, according to Law & Crime.
“My dad volunteered and served in World War II to fight fascism, like most of my uncles, so we would not have an American president brutalizing and kidnapping Americans for exercising their constitutional rights and trying to make America a better place, which is what patriots do,” the district attorney said in a statement.

“Anyone, including federal law enforcement, who unlawfully assaults and kidnaps people will face criminal charges from my office,” the statement continued to say. “At trial, they will face a Philadelphia jury. It’s the least we can do to honor those who fought fascism, including those who are fighting it even now.”
Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents operating under the direction of Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf have been seen in numerous videos rounding up protesters and taking them away in unmarked vans. This, of course, is happening amid a number of national crises. And Trump’s authoritarian approach to anti-racist protesters following the murder of George Floyd by police officers is the opposite direction he should have taken as president. And protesting is as American as apple pie. While Trump supporters back their president as he cracks down on Democratic cities, it’s something we won’t forget at the ballot box.
“Vote for me or I’ll kidnap you” isn’t a great platform to run on.
