It’s that theory, again

On Sunday, Donald Trump gave his first major interview since being rushed out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at gunpoint. The shooting got covered. Then a still image from the broadcast surfaced online, and the health conversation resumed.

The 60 Minutes segment with Norah O’Donnell was eventful enough on its own terms.

When Norah O’Donnell started reading from the shooter’s manifesto, Donald Trump jumped in: “You’re a disgrace. But go ahead. Let’s finish the interview.” She tried again. He didn’t change the script: “You’re disgraceful.”

She pointed out the shooter expected heavy security and found almost none, calling the gap insane. Trump shrugged it off: “Well, he was pretty incompetent too, because he got caught.”

Singer and commentator Bill Madden posted a frame from the broadcast on X with the observation that Trump’s seated posture showed “not only how morbidly obese he has become, but that he wears a very thick adult diaper.”

The post found its audience right away.

The diaper claim has been around for a while.

It traces back to Noel Casler, a former Celebrity Apprentice staffer who has spent years alleging Trump has worn incontinence products since the 1990s, describing incidents on the Apprentice set in considerable detail. “He would often soil himself on The Apprentice set, he’s incontinent,” Casler has claimed.

The White House has never formally addressed the claim. Trump’s physician continues to describe him as being in excellent health.

But the internet does not move on that easily.

Earlier this year, a January 29 Oval Office meeting that ended abruptly set off a fresh round of claims that reporters were rushed out for the same reason. White House spokesman Steven Cheung called it “not true.”
