Possible New Evidence Against Trump Could Introduce New Articles Of Impeachment

Sit down, Mr. Trump. They're not through with you.

Lawyers for the House Judiciary Committee are trying to get former White House counsel Don McGahn’s testimony, which, they say, could be cause for new articles of impeachment to add to those already adopted by Congress. Donald Trump previously ordered McGahn not to comply with a subpoena, and that doesn’t look suspicious at all (wink wink).

“If McGahn’s testimony produces new evidence supporting the conclusion that President Trump committed impeachable offenses that are not covered by the Articles approved by the House, the Committee will proceed accordingly — including, if necessary, by considering whether to recommend new articles of impeachment,” the lawyers said, according to NBC News.

“For example, if McGahn confirms to the Committee that the President ordered him to fire Special Counsel Mueller — an event that President Trump has publicly disputed — and then tried to cover it up, that testimony would constitute powerful evidence of the pattern of obstructive behavior described in the second Article,” the House wrote.

The House has been in a legal battle over whether McGahn must testify about instances mentioned in Mueller’s report since this past August. However, Trump’s Department of Justice just told a federal court that Congressional Democrats no longer have a need for grand jury materials from former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation because the impeachment articles against Trump didn’t cover matters from the Russia probe. And that’s kind of weird since the House can’t use Mueller’s report as an article of impeachment if Trump and his buddies are keeping it under wraps.

According to the news outlet, a separate filing was made on Monday by the Department of Justice to argue that the appeals court should reject the House’s bid to force McGahn to testify.

“This court should decline the committee’s request that it enter the fray and instead should dismiss this fraught suit between the political branches,” the DOJ filing says.

This past August, the House sued to force McGahn to testify after Trump directed him not to testify before the Judiciary Committee. Trump’s White House and the Justice Department argued that McGahn had “absolute immunity” from testifying before Congress. But, since McGahn met with Mueller’s investigators for over 30 hours, and his name is mentioned over 500 times in the report, and now Trump’s White House wants to silence him, it appears that House Democrats are onto something.

This is the dumbest crime syndicate ever. Every move a Trump official makes looks suspicious, then they whine if an investigation ensues. But, we kind of get it since this country is being run by a fucked up guy who thinks cheating on all of his past wives and present wife is OK, and he bankrupted a casino — and he’s morally bankrupt, too, so the bar is pretty low at this point.
