The entire world, it seems, has recently discovered a newfound love and admiration for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as he selflessly puts his very own life on the line to save, defend, and protect the people of his country. And that admiration is beyond rightfully earned.

Today, the Ukrainian President delivered a passionate, sobering, heartfelt speech to the European Parliament, speaking out against Vladimir Putin’s vicious, hateful war against his country amid Russia’s ongoing invasion and attack against Ukraine, and his words were so deeply touching that even the English translator could be heard choking up.

In between fighting in literal battle, on the ground in Ukraine, against the Russian soldiers that have invaded his country, Zelenskyy has been fighting tooth and nail to get Ukraine immediate membership with the European Union. Today, he gave a remote speech to the Parliament to further his call, where he delivered a fiery condemnation of Putin as a Russian convoy approached Kyiv and a Russian rocket attack was launched against civilian areas in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

“This is the price of freedom,” the Ukrainian President said. “We’re fighting just for our land and for our freedom.”

As he translated President Zelenskyy’s promise that “Every square today, no matter what it’s called, is going to be called Freedom Square, in every city of our country,” the European Parliament translator became very audibly choked up and emotional.

“Nobody is gonna break us,” Zelenskyy declared. “We are strong. We are Ukrainians.”

The Ukrainian President continued to press that his people are still fighting to be recognized as an “equal member of Europe,” even as he once again pointed out that the entire country is “fighting for survival” in the ongoing, heinous war with Russia.

“The European Union is going to be much stronger with us,” he stated. “We have proven our strength…Do prove that you are with us. Do prove that you will not let us go. Do prove that you are indeed Europeans, and then life will win over death, and light will win over darkness. Glory be to Ukraine!”

Zelenskyy’s powerful speech was unsurprisingly met with a round of deep applause from the assembly he was addressing.
