Report Claims Lindsey Graham Has Received More Money From Donors Lacking Disclosure Than Any Other Senate Candidate In 2020

What are you hiding, Linds?

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (R) recently complained about the donations coming in for his Democratic challenger, Jaime Harrison. “I’d like to know where the hell some of it’s coming from,” Graham insisted. Harrison has raised the most by a Senate candidate in U.S. history. It could be — and stay with me here for a minute — that Americans are tired of having a Trump sycophant in office instead of one that will stand up for the people of South Carolina. Graham has begged for donations on Fox News multiple times, so he knows his seat is in jeopardy.

Well, Linds, we’d like to know where your donations are coming from, thankyouverymuch. According to Open Secrets, Graham is the least transparent in regards to donations.

Among all Senate candidates running in 2020, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) received the largest percentage of money from donors that were not assigned an occupation. His campaign doesn’t provide employment information for donors who gave a total of $6 million. That’s about 19 percent of his fundraising haul from large individual donors.

The outlet notes that a candidate is required by the Federal Elections Commission to make their “best efforts” in obtaining the full name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of donors who give more than $200 in a given election cycle.

It’s almost as if Graham is trying to distract us:

Graham’s relative lack of donor disclosure hasn’t stopped him from calling for an investigation into donations made through Democratic fundraising firm ActBlue, which has processed billions of dollars in donations to Democrats. Graham made those remarks last month as he was being outraised by his Democratic opponent Jaime Harrison in a heated Senate race that has the most candidate spending of any congressional race in history.

Graham has a two-point edge over Harrison in the latest Morning Consult poll. Now, mind you, this is in South Carolina, a state that reliably votes for Republicans — and Harrison winning the seat would mean that South Carolina would have two Black senators serving at the same time. It will be a historic victory if Harrison defeats Graham — the latter of which doesn’t seem to realize that licking the president’s boots isn’t in his job description.

Since Graham wants to know where Harrison’s donations are coming from, perhaps he should be more forthcoming about the donations he has received. Graham raised $6 million from donors that provided incomplete information. Harrison raised about $800,000 from donors with no occupation information listed. Jinkies, that’s a big difference.
