Former President Donald Trump’s speech during the Republican National Committee donor retreat wasn’t met with enthusiasm as he railed against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, deriding him as a “dumb son of a bitch.” Trump also listed his grievances and lashed out at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former President Barack Obama, whom he called “Barack Hussein Obama”; Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, President Biden’s chief medical adviser; and Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia, whom he demeaned for not helping overturn the election in his state.
Politico’s Playbook reports that donors at the event were not impressed with Trump’s “long and dour” speech. We’re not sure what they expected since what Trump said is typical of the former president.
“It was horrible; it was long and negative,” one attendee with a donor in the room told the outlet. “It was dour. He didn’t talk about the positive things that his administration has done.”
“Trump used the final night of the retreat to talk about himself, his grievances and how he plans to enact retribution against those who voted to impeach him — which runs counter to the donors’ main objective of making sure their dollars go toward winning overall,” Politico reports.

As it happens, violent and deadly insurrections aren’t very popular.
“Many major donors have been fed up with Trump’s antics since Jan. 6,” the outlet reports. “While Trump was speaking, we spotted at least two — both of whom received prominent appointments during his administration — out dining with friends at a local restaurant in Palm Beach rather than sitting through the former president’s dinner at Mar-a-Lago.”
“As Playbook and the New York Times have reported, Trump has become a complication for donors. They don’t want their money going toward his retribution efforts,” the report adds. “Remember: These are exorbitantly wealthy people — some with egos as big as Trump’s — and they are not interested in hearing about how another rich guy had his ego bruised. The fact that they even had to shuttle from the Four Seasons resort where the retreat was being held to Mar-a-Lago for Trump’s speech was enough of a sign of fealty to Trump, donors told us.”
Trump’s narcissistic brain won’t allow him to admit his defeat to President Joe Biden, who won both the popular and electoral vote. All Trump wants is retribution to those that wouldn’t help him turn over a legitimate election. Trump sustained a massive narcissistic injury and still hasn’t conceded the presidential race that took place five months ago.
