Republican Governor Put Donald Trump On Notice Regarding 2024: “Thank You for Your Service… But We’re Moving On”

Trump won't handle this well at all.

Scandal-ridden former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign has frankly been dead in the water since the moment he held his pathetic Mar-a-Lago announcement that his own daughter refused to even attend.

In the days and weeks since his official 2024 launch, Trump has lost some of his biggest supporters — lawmakers, big-money donors, Republican officials, former officials from his own administration, and average Americans — in droves and the bleeding has yet to show any signs of slowing down.

Now, yet another notable name in the party he once believed himself to be king of has put the disgraced former president on notice with regard to his third consecutive White House run.

New Hampshire Republican Governor Chris Sununu said that the GOP is “moving on” from Donald J. Trump, who he believes will fail to secure the Republican nomination in the primaries.

Sununu’s remarks came during an appearance on Special Report on Fox News, where the GOP governor was quick to decline any confirmation as to whether or not he is personally preparing to throw his hat into the 2024 presidential ring.

However, he made it clear that he does not see a path forward for Donald Trump with regard to staging a White House comeback.

Speaking with Fox host Brett Baier, Sununu said, “The race for president hasn’t really started. No one’s really thinking that way. Remember, we’re just coming out of November of ’22. And, you and I are in this world talking about it all the time, but the average American? They’re dealing with inflation, they’re dealing with high housing prices, record debt at the household level.”

The governor then turned his full attention to scandal-ridden former President Donald Trump.

“And look my message to, about President Trump is we thank you for your service. Great. But we’re moving on. Americans are not in the mode of just settling. Right? We’re never gonna say, ‘The best opportunity for tomorrow’s leadership is yesterday’s leadership.’ We want the next generation,” the GOP leader declared, quite condescendingly before adding, “I don’t think anything’s gonna get his poll numbers up. And as this race actually heats up and people start paying attention, there’s just gonna be a lot of other options on the table.”

The Fox host seemed to attempt to do some damage control as he noted that a crowded playing field could serve to give Trump the boost he needs.

“And for the people who say the more candidates get in – if you choose to – the more the chances are that the former president shoots the gap and becomes the nominee,” Baier said.

But Sununu quickly shot it down, explaining, “So here’s the key. I don’t care how many get in. You gotta have the discipline to get out. And that’s what a lot of folks did not have in ’16.”

The Republican governor went on to say that he’s optimistic that low-polling candidates will ultimately drop out early on and remove themselves from the proverbial pot, which will pave the way for a credible Republican candidate (like Florida’s Ron DeSantis) to swoop in and bring Trump to his knees.

Sununu’s new remarks come just weeks after he clearly stated, earlier this month, that Donald Trump does not stand a chance to beat President Joe Biden in yet another presidential election.
