We knew it was coming.

I am done. I am done with the excuses. I am done with the thoughts and prayers and Bible verses. I am done watching innocent babies get slaughtered in the classrooms and Republicans shouting from the rooftops that they’re sorry, it’s sad, but their guns are worth more. I am done. America is done. We. Are. Done.

On Tuesday, 18-year-old high school dropout turned mass shooter, Salvador Ramos, entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where he barricaded himself into a 47-grade classroom and proceeded to brutally slaughter 19 innocent student and their 2 beautiful teachers. Twenty-one lives were claimed far too soon. Twenty-one human beings did not go home to celebrate the end of the school year and the upcoming summer break. Twenty-one families will spend the coming days burying their wives, their babies.

And Ted Cruz is currently standing his ass at an event held by the National Rifle Association, telling the world that 21 families are forever shattered because people don’t go to church enough. Twenty-one families will bury their loved ones this week because there’s too much social media, too many video games and absent fathers in this nation.

In a clip of Cruz’s NRA speech, posted to Twitter by former federal prosecutor, popular Twitter user, and staunch Republican critic Ron Filipkowski, the TX GOP senator states to the audience, “Tragedies like the events of this week are a mirror, forcing us to ask hard questions, demanding that we see where our culture is failing. Looking at broken families, absent fathers, declining church attendance, social media bullying, violent online content, desensitizing the act of murder in video games, chronic isolation…”

Cruz’s word vomit earned him a rambunctious round of applause from the audience:

Salvador Ramos did not kill these people with mental illnesses. He did not murder 21 human beings with a video game or rap music or a butter knife. He heinously gunned them down with an AR-15 assault rifle. It was the gun. It is always the guns. It will always be the guns.
