If there was anything Donald J. Trump certainly accomplished during his four long, torturous years in office, it was creating a space for racist people to feel fully comfortable in their racism. What was once a shameful secret for many people on the Right, that they were forced to keep hidden and only fume about in the privacy of their dark holes, has now become somewhat of a pillar of respect and recognition among the Conservative crowd. They’re racist and they know it and they want the rest of the world to know it too.
They’re proud in their bigotry and hatred, and Trump gave them such a wide-open avenue for such that they truly don’t even think about what they say before they say it. The ages old rule of “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” is long gone following Donald’s reign of terror and racist freedom.
And none other than Mitch McConnell just made a prime example out of himself when it comes to exactly what I’m talking about here.
As I said, many racist individuals have become so comfortable in their “values” that they no longer even think before they speak. Whatever internalized notions they have rattling around up in their brains just flows right out of their mouths with a complete disregard for who it will hurt, because they don’t care and they don’t have to pretend as though they do anymore.

Speaking during a press event regarding the mounting voting rights issues in the US, Senate Minority Leader McConnell said the quiet part as loud as he possibly could.
Addressing a reporter who had asked him a question, McConnell stuck his foot in his mouth so hard it’s a thousand wonders he didn’t choke on it when he answered, “The concern is misplaced because if you look at the statistics, African-American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as American voters.”
Read that again.
You’re not seeing things. That is exactly what he said. He very blatantly suggested to a room full of people that African American voters are not Americans.
Still struggling to believe it? Listen:
Wow. Just wow.

Was he maliciously saying something with the very specific, purposeful intent of making such a disgusting suggestion? I don’t know the answer to that. Has he become so resoundingly comfortable in his personal belief that black individuals are somehow less than and not on the same level as a “regular” white American that his brain no longer even processes the garbage that comes out of his mouth, thanks to an overabundance of confidence and a severe lack of fear regarding reparations for being a racist piece of shit? You’re damn right.
