Donald Trump issued a threat on Wednesday night to “take back” Seattle from protesters, tweeting that “ugly anarchists must be stooped.” Now, I’m not exactly sure how stooping people works, but presumably, it involves kneeling on protesters’ necks.
Seattle protesters have had clashes with the police amid the demonstrations over George Floyd’s murder by police officers. However, earlier this week, Seattle police left the area, and protesters took over, naming several blocks the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” or “CHAZ,” which has now become the site of ongoing peaceful protests. Protesters have turned the area into a community center, but Trump is having none of that even though the police de-escalated the situation.
Reminder: Trump described the hundreds of armed, white protesters who stormed the Michigan Capitol building earlier this year as “very good people.”
So, the president threatened to invade Seattle — as one does when you can’t get your way.

It would be great if we had a president that didn’t promote violence and the takeover of a city that already has leaders that have de-escalated the situation. Only Trump would stoop this low.
