Someone Put Up Brutal Message On A California Bridge About Trump’s Turkey Trip — And It’s Going Viral

Every viral moment has an origin story, and this one starts on a California highway overpass with some zip ties and a very specific poultry joke.

Someone climbed behind the chain link fence and put up a message that gave passing drivers something more interesting to look at than traffic: “TRUMP CHICKENED OUT OF TURKEY,” spelled out letter by letter across the bridge.

Ed Krassenstein shared a photo of the sign, writing: “This was displayed along a bridge in California.”

An anonymous figure the internet has nicknamed the “California Bridge Fairy” has been quietly hanging anti-Trump signs on freeway bridges for months, with past entries ranging from straightforward political jabs to gloriously weird one-liners that somehow always find a way to go viral in their own right.

The joke also has some history behind it.

“TACO,” short for Trump Always Chickens Out, has been floating around online since 2025, after a series of tariff threats were walked back when markets reacted badly.

This week added a second layer. Reports described an elaborate decoy-plane switch used to get Trump out of Turkey following the NATO summit, reportedly over security worries tied to Iran. Somewhere between actual protocol and pure comedy, “chickened out” and “Turkey” landed on the same banner.

Once the replies opened up, the jokes came in fast. One commenter went full poultry connoisseur: “He’s one fowl short of a turducken.” A layered joke, genuinely, for something typed one-handed at a stoplight.

Another skipped the extras entirely: “He’s a chicken turkey.”

Someone else let the acronym stand completely on its own: “TACO.”

Another combined two dishes into a single reply: “Turkey TACO.” It sounds like something you could actually order off a menu, which is almost the best part.

One final commenter flipped the whole thing sideways: “Wait! He made chicken out of turkey? He’s amazing.” A compliment disguised as confusion, aimed squarely at anyone who took the pun at face value.
