Another exit from Trump’s orbit

Karoline Leavitt is leaving the White House not long after her own deputy walked out too. Either the press shop is having a rough stretch, or the timing worked out well for her.

Trump made it official on Truth Social. “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!”

He wasn’t done handing out titles, either. Leavitt, he added, “will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections.”

The closing line landed somewhere between tribute and press release. “Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024. Karoline has been one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office. Thank you, Karoline, for a job well done!”

None of this is coming totally out of nowhere, though. Leavitt has spent the last year and a half setting records before she even hit thirty. She became the youngest White House press secretary in American history when Trump first tapped her back in November 2024, beating a mark that had stood since the Nixon administration.

She’s also spent this year juggling the podium with parenthood. Leavitt took maternity leave back in April for the arrival of her second child, at one point candidly admitting she’d wondered “how the heck am I going to do this job” while prepping for baby number two.
