There’s been a lot of speculation, especially lately, about Donald Trump’s hair. Does the president wear a wig, a hairpiece, or something else? What’s with the ever-shifting colors, in which his hair is sometimes blond, sometimes red, and sometimes greyer?
Per The Daily Beast, Trump addressed his hair Wednesday night, during a dinner in the Rose Garden with members of Congress.
Trump told a story about a visit to Ohio for a rally in support of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), during the 2024 election, on a very windy night.

“I went up to the speaker, and it was blowing so hard,” Trump said of that night, at the rally. “You know, for years, I had to suffer with people saying, ‘He wears a wig.’ I don’t wear a wig. But that night, they found out I did not wear a wig because if you did, it was not gonna be on your head very long.”
“As I was walking up to the podium, the teleprompters—all set up with the beautiful speech—they blew off the stage,” he continued. “They blew off the stage, and they were 50 yards, like half a football field down. They were gone as I walked up.”
The Daily Beast found the footage from that rally in Ohio- and it turned out Trump was wearing a hat that day, so none of that stuff about his hair was true. Also, in a picture from that day, the teleprompters appeared intact.

The Beast reported that Trump’s hair has changed a lot in recent weeks. In an early-August visit to Las Vegas, the outlet reported, Trump’s “typical wispy, light blond coif transformed into a fluffy, strawberry blond mane as he spoke at the Red Rock Resort. However, the next day, his hair returned to its normal thinness—raising eyebrows as to what caused the brief abnormality.”
Biographer Michael Wolff wrote in his book about Trump in 2017, per the Beast, that Ivanka Trump has described how her father’s hair works.
“She often described the mechanics behind it to friends: an absolutely clean pate—a contained island after scalp reduction surgery—surrounded by a furry circle of hair around the sides and front, from which all ends are drawn up to meet in the center and then swept back and secured by a stiffening spray,” Wolff wrote, per the Beast.
