Ted Cruz was out here driving the petty bus straight to I’m A Toddler Town during his big Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech today when he took a nasty dig at Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki from the stage. And in true Jen Psaki fashion, she literally could not care less what the likes of Cancun Cruz has to say about her.
During his CPAC address this afternoon, Cruz appeared to take a page straight from the Donald Trump playbook when he dubbed the Biden White House press secretary with a nasty nickname; “Peppermint Patty.”
Upon mentioning her the first time, Cruz jeered the crowd for not reacting as negatively to the mere mention of Psaki’s name as they did when he brought up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“Oh, come on. Jen Psaki doesn’t get the Justin Trudeau treatment?” Cruz prodded the audience. “Peppermint Patty deserves some love.”
We’re assuming that Ted’s childish new nickname for the press secretary is a reference to the Peanuts comic strip and cartoon character of the same name, who has red hair in a short bob style that Cruz apparently finds similar to Psaki’s hairstyle and color.

As you’d expected, just moments later, Psaki was questioned about Cruz’s CPAC speech comments during this evening’s daily White House press briefing. Spoiler alert: I really don’t think she could have cared less if she tried.
“Don’t tell him I like Peppermint Patty,” Psaki quipped in response, igniting chuckles from the White House reporters in the briefing room. “So I’m not going to take it too offensively. Sen. Cruz, I like Peppermint Patty. I’m a little tougher than that, but there you go.”

Taking his pettiness a step further still, because of course, Cruz retweeted a clip of Psaki’s response to his CPAC nickname, captioning it with a shrug emoji:

As it turned out, Twitter buried Cruz’s ass in far for mockery for his pathetic attempt at a funny than he even managed to garner against Jen, even with his childish nickname and dig:
