Ted Cruz’s Old Running Mate Spoke Out Against Him: “Sadly, It Appears, I Was Wrong About Ted Cruz”

He's an embarrassment.

Oftentimes, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham gets the spotlight as the GOPer who did the biggest 180 of a lifetime when he went from calling Trump “a race-baiting xenophobic religious bigot” to all but licking the bottoms of his lifted shoes in what felt like an instant. However, Texas Senator and failed presidential candidate Ted Cruz has actually given ole Graham a run for his money in the pathetic sycophant department.

A lot has happened since the 2016 presidential races so, in case you forget, allow me to refresh your memory — Cruz was actually running against Donald Trump for the 2016 Republican presidential candidacy. Not only was Donald Trump absolutely ruthless towards his competition back then, making fun of Cruz’s wife and accusing the senator’s father of assisting in the assassination of JFK, Cruz had some less than nice things to say about the eventual U.S. president as well.

However, in much the same way as Graham, Cruz made a complete turnaround once Trump secured the presidency and took up residence in the White House.

Cruz tried to pull off his presidential run with a few stunts he had up his sleeve — including naming his running mate before nominations were even completed. The TX senator chose California businesswoman and former CEO Carly Fiorina as his potential VP should he win the presidential race. Of course, we all know that Cruz’s stunt was ultimately unsuccessful and the pair lost the primaries to Donald Trump. As we’ve noted, since losing the presidential primaries, Cruz devolved into a Trump sycophant of epic proportions and, much like Graham’s narrative, no one can really figure out exactly why.

But, Cruz’s old running mate has a solid theory.

Fiorina appeared on a segment with CNN and spoke out against the guy she once ran for the White House with, revealing that she believes it’s “access to power and money and influence” that has degraded Ted Cruz into a Trump boot licker.

Turns out I was right about Donald Trump,” she said, “and sadly, it appears, I was wrong about Ted Cruz.”

Cruz ignited an onslaught of mockery this week when he posted an image of himself with the ex-president as Mar-a-Lago, bragging about the meeting on Twitter.
