Tyler Boebert, the eldest son of Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert, had his day in court early Friday. He had been charged with ID theft and launching spending sprees with stolen credit cards, but, according to Courthouse News Service, thanks to a kind-hearted judge who did a bit of whittling, he pleaded guilty to a single charge of attempting to commit identity theft.
According to authorities, young Tyler, who told the judge earlier that he was “working things out” so that he could afford an attorney in his criminal case, was caught with a trio of his underage buddies on surveillance camera breaking into people’s cars, swiping any available credit cards.
He wound up pleading guilty to one charge, and Ninth Judicial District Chief Judge John Neiley considered his lack of prior criminal convictions. Judge Neiley also considered letters from the mother of his young son, and his parents Lauren and Jayson Boebert as well.
The judge urged Tyler to think of the consequences of making bad decisions.

“I don’t know a lot about you, but I know you are a young man,” Neiley said. “You were 18 when you committed this offense. You have no prior criminal history, and this is an opportunity you should not squander.”
Neiley subsequently issued a deferred sentence to Tyler, who is now 19. Raw Story reports he was purportedly ordered to complete 80 hours of community service. He was also ordered to avoid controlled substances.
And mom Lauren Boebert, rocking her grandson on one hip, showed up in court to support her oldest son.
“Mr. Boebert’s family is in the courtroom. His primary focus is his family, and this agreement allows him to move forward and hopefully not have anything on his record,” said defense attorney William Trent Palmer. “Boebert accepts responsibility, and he looks forward to successfully completing probation.”
Boebert herself has had the occasional legal run-in, as has Jayson, her former husband, which The Independent details. But it’s her behavior in Congress that’s garnered her the most attention, and I’m not just referring to her Beetlejuice performance at a Denver theatre. She is one of former President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters and is a fervent Second Amendmenter who favors the rights of gun lovers over our rights to protect our children.
