Trouble in Washington: Paul Ryan Releases Statement Against Trump, Then Trump Throws a Public Tantrum

Trump couldn't handle this!

Earlier today, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan kicked his Tuesday morning off by making a rare statement that criticized President Donald Trump. Ryan voiced off on the recent evidence that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election, breaking away from Trump’s repeated defense of Russia while refusing to look at evidence pointing to Russian interference.

In a powerful statement, Ryan slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin and doubled down on reports on Russian meddling. He said:

Vladimir Putin does not share our interests. Vladimir Putin does not share our values. We just conducted a year-long investigation into Russia elections. They did interfere in our elections. It’s really clear. There should be no doubt about that. It’s clear that it didn’t have a material effect on our elections.”

Trump’s unyielding defense of Russia has earned him criticism from both sides of the table, especially after his meeting with Putin yesterday. Many politicians and Americans alike were calling for the president to cancel the meeting after the indictments of 12 Russians, but Trump not only kept the meeting — he praised Putin every chance he got. Instead of standing up to Putin and addressing the election meddling, Trump couldn’t have been more friendly. He even attacked the United States — his own country — for damaged relations with Russia.

Ryan countered Trump with another strong stance against Russia:

Russia did meddle with our elections. Not only did Russia meddle in our elections, they’re doing it around the world. They did it to France, they’re doing it to the Baltics. Russia is trying to undermine democracy itself to delegitimize democracy.”

Ryan isn’t the only Republican who has condemned Trump after seeing his performance on Monday. Many have called Trump out for being weak and are now voicing their support for Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Let’s just say that Trump isn’t handling things well, as he threw a fit:
