Trump Abruptly Cuts Camp David Weekend Short, Rushes Back To White House As Possible Escalation Looms

Is something big about to happen with the Iran conflict? On Saturday night, several signs pointed to a major development.

According to The Hill, President Donald Trump cut short his weekend at Camp David and headed back to the White House on Saturday night instead of Sunday. Meanwhile, the State Department issued a new security alert, stating that “Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions,” and that “the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.”

The Associated Press reported that Saudi Arabia confirmed that the Houthis had attempted to attack its capital, Riyadh, with a ballistic missile. The U.S. embassy in Israel had also issued a security alert, calling for U.S. citizens in that country to “exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.”

In an interview earlier this week with Axios, Trump said he was nearing a major decision on the war. Those comments came ahead of next Tuesday’s planned meeting with Gulf allies of the U.S. — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman — at the United Nations.

“I have a big decision coming up,” Trump told reporter Barak Ravid. “Do I want to go in and annihilate them [the Iranian regime] or do I not? It’s a big decision. Anything could happen with me.”

“I want to find out where they are and how they are doing. We have been very protective of them,”  Trump said of the planned meeting next week.

Several X accounts have been making claims about attacks that are about to begin or already have, but CNN analyst Alex Plitsas, who is cited in some of them, has denied this is the case:
