On Wednesday morning, the U.S. hit over forty-five thousand deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic that Donald Trump failed to act upon when he first learned of the threat in November. Instead of warning the United States of the danger, the “America First” president alerted Israel — then he continued to hold rallies and go golfing.
Then, when people started dying in the U.S., Dr. Trump touted the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus. He hasn’t mentioned the drug lately, though, as a study shows there is no benefit to fight the disease, and more deaths were reported among those given hydroxychloroquine versus standard care.
So, for Trump’s next trick, the former reality show star is teasing a war with Iran to distract from his failures to lead us through this national crisis.
“I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea,” President Wag the Dog tweeted.

With experts and Intelligence agencies at his disposal, it appears that the president is getting his information from Fox & Friends. In fact, Trump has been live-tweeting the show all morning.
Uhhh…

“Just last week, armed Iranian boats were caught on camera performing dangerous maneuvers around our warships in the Persian Gulf.”

Here’s the clip:
Fox & Friends, which Trump watched this morning, had a lengthy discussion of Iran launching a new military satellite about 90 minutes before Trump posted his tweet threatening to shoot down their [squints at notes] boats pic.twitter.com/bvpiPe0xAr

To be very clear here, we do not A) shoot down ships unless the Iranians now having flying ships and whatnot. B) We do not obliterate foreign ships for what a president perceives as harassment. I’m pretty sure that would be a war crime, but what do I know — I’m not a stable genius who gets intel from Fox & Friends.
However, a former Army prosecutor, who is far more knowledgeable in this matter than me, and obviously the president, too, explains that the order is illegal.
As a former Army JAG, I prosecuted soldiers for military offenses. As a former civilian prosecutor, I spent decades handling murder case. A killing motivated by “harassment” is unlawful. Fortunately, as soldiers we are taught to disobey unlawful orders. Trump is failing. pic.twitter.com/3oNgS8y1HC
