Hurricane Milton, a powerful Category 5 storm, is now heading toward Florida. Winds are raging at 160 mph, and experts expect the storm to cause historic damage, especially around Tampa Bay. But while the people of Florida are preparing for the worst, Trump once again finds himself in the middle of a storm—this time, because of his lack of knowledge about hurricanes.
A tweet by Ron (@Ronxyz00) has brought back memories of Trump saying he had “never heard of a Category 5 hurricane.” Really, Trump? How can you lead a country and not know about something as common as hurricanes? Back in 2019, Hurricane Dorian, another Category 5 storm, was headed for the U.S. During that time, Trump claimed,
“I’ve never even heard of a Category 5. I knew it existed, and I’ve seen some Category 4s.”

One Twitter user commented on the post, saying that Trump was never truly a president in the way a president should be — and to some extent, that’s true.
He was never a president like a president should be. He was an amateur who didn’t know anything. Trump was, is, and always will be a con artist.

Historically, hurricanes have caused significant damage in the U.S. For example, Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005, resulting in the loss of over 1,800 lives and billions in damages. During that disaster, people were looking for strong leadership. Instead, many felt abandoned by their government.
Governor Ron DeSantis has declared an emergency, and evacuations are already underway. People are preparing for Hurricane Milton to hit the state by mid-week, and it could be one of the worst storms to strike Florida in years. But if you think back to Trump’s presidency, his handling of hurricanes was questionable, to say the least.
In 2017, Trump faced severe backlash after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. His response? Throwing paper towels to the crowd, as if that would solve the problem. Maria killed nearly 3,000 people, and Puerto Rico took years to recover. Yet, Trump downplayed the crisis. His administration’s slow and ineffective response caused unnecessary suffering.
The fact is, hurricanes like Milton, Dorian, and Maria are becoming more frequent and severe. But Trump and many Republicans have often ignored or downplayed the impact of climate change. Instead of taking action, they have repeatedly tried to block environmental regulations aimed at slowing global warming.
As Milton heads toward Florida, it serves as a reminder of how unprepared Trump was when natural disasters struck during his time in office. Many people, like Ron, are quick to remind us of Trump’s cluelessness when it comes to things like Category 5 hurricanes. Trump’s presidency was filled with moments where he simply didn’t know what he was doing.
Hopefully, leaders today can handle Hurricane Milton better than Trump handled the disasters during his time. After all, with storms like these, lives are at stake, and the last thing anyone needs is a leader who “never heard” of a problem that affects millions.
