Trump Is Pitching A Temper Tantrum Over His Political Enemy’s Book Sales Success

Oof. He's BIG mad.

In case you hadn’t heard, reports from multiple outlets over the course of this week have confirmed that controversial, alt-Right Republican Florida Governor and newest GOP sweetheart Ron DeSantis has seen quite a windfall of success with regard to sales of his memoir, titled, The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Survival.

The books’ sales have already officially outpaced books penned by the likes of former President Barack Obama, former First Lady and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, and even scandal-ridden, disgraced ex-President Donald Trump that were written at a comparable time in their political careers. With regard to Trump specifically, his most comparable work was his 2015 opus, Crippled America.

As it stands, Ron’s tell-all has blown all of the above out of the water and seems to still be going strong.

And it’s really pissing Trump off.

Many of the reports that have covered Ron’s recent success have also made note of the fact that Trump is soon to release yet another of his own books — this time, a collection of letters he’s received from celebrities, politicians, and notable names over the years — that’s already steeped in controversy and some pretty hinky copyright issues.

But apparently, Trump doesn’t even want people to mention his beloved book in the same breath as DeSantis’ memoir, and he took to his Truth Social account to let everybody know it.

The former president was quick to head over to his own struggling social media platform, where he pitched what can only be described as a literal temper tantrum over Ron’s book sales, accusing media outlets of claiming that Ron’s memoir has outsold his not-yet-released coffee table book, and accusing the FL governor of inflating his sales numbers with bulk purchases made by groups that DeSantis apparently has in his pocket:

Some in the Fake News are falsely stating that Ron DeSanctimonious’ book is doing as well as “LETTERS TO TRUMP,” my new book. This is FAKE NEWS in that LETTERS doesn’t even come out until April 25th. Ron has groups buying his book in order to inflate sales and, in fact, on the first day, his book was already 30% discounted. LETTERS TO TRUMP has much different pricing, and is a coffee table book. The so-called Stars corresponded with me, you’ll love it!”

Of course, this hissy fit came complete with a link to preorder Letters To Trump.

It does seem that a portion of Donald’s meltdown was at least partially correct, in that DeSantis’ book debuted on the New York Times bestsellers list, accompanied by a dagger icon next to the title.

The Times notes, “Sales are defined as completed transactions by vendors and individual end users during the period on or after the official publication date of a title. Institutional, special interest, group or bulk purchases, if and when they are included, are at the discretion of The New York Times Best-Seller List Desk editors based on standards for inclusion that encompass proprietary vetting and audit protocols, corroborative reporting and other statistical determinations. When included, such bulk purchases appear with a dagger (†).”
