President Donald Trump excused his narcissistic decision to make 1,000 cadets return to West Point in June so that he can deliver the commencement speech there by blaming the generals for somehow forcing him to do it. Seriously.
During a disastrous Fox News town hall sacrilegiously located in front of the Lincoln Memorial, a sweaty Trump was asked about his upcoming West Point speech, which has been widely criticized for endangering cadets due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic that has killed nearly 70,000 Americans.
In a clear effort to avoid responsibility for his own stupidity and recklessness, Trump once again claimed that West Point asked him to speak, only to then shift to blaming the “generals” as if they were forcing him to do it. Trump also claimed that there’s “no risk” to the cadets even though many of them could be asymptomatic and pass the virus to others in attendance.
Here’s the video:

First of all, the military academy did not invite Trump to speak there, according to West Point graduate Will Goodwin.
I’m a West Point graduate. Mr. President, they did NOT ask you to be there
You put your ego ahead of the safety of our future Army Officers
It’s just the latest example of you putting your own political interest ahead of our military readiness
You’re undeserving of the office https://t.co/jUmRduaH2G

Second, is Trump seriously saying that the generals are forcing him — the president — to do something?
Trump is such a liar, and social media users were having none of it.
First, it’s always “The Generals” when he wants to sound important. Second, Presidents rotate giving the commencement speech at the Military Academies every year. This wasn’t a special “invitation”. It was simply West Point’s turn. But, it’s always about how important he is… https://t.co/x9gzeeJEA1

Even if they salute him as commander-in-chief, none of those generals think he has anything but mush for brains, and speaking to the cadets is not only a waste of time but dangerous for all involved. Imagine if that virus rips through an entire West Point graduating class.

I wonder if the Donald hears voices in his head other than his own voice. What generals told him to bring back 1,000 West Point cadets who are sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, etc? They will have to be quarantined before and after. Who does this? The madman. https://t.co/Z0xArv74ab

Trump says the Generals are forcing him to address the West Point Commencement. If true it would mark the first time he has listened to the Generals

Even if the West Point generals wanted Trump 2speak in front of their cadets, it could have been done via cell-phone-video, w/cadets remaining home!1000 cadets, next 2each other, isn’t warranted, during this pandemic!🤷♀️🤷♂️👎🤮👍🥺

So @realDonaldTrump is the commander in chief and says he didn’t even want to speak at West Point, but he is because the generals asked him?????? So now the generals tell him what to do? 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 https://t.co/Lud00zgXL5

The Generals we’re surprised when he said he was going to West Point. They had no dea.

The generals didn’t want you to speak at West Point, after the #bleachgate humiliation you needed an ego boost, so you ordered the cadets to make yourself a rally.
And nice lie, moron. The president doesn’t take orders from generals, it doesn’t even make sense.— Bob Scofield (@scof_nyc) May 4, 2020
Would any active generals out there care to raise their hands if they asked Trump to speak at West Point? I’m sure these future officers would like to know which of their future commanders are going to be reckless with their lives.
