Trump Legal Woes Appear To Be Getting Worse After Former N.Y. Apartment Tenants Are Reportedly Suing Him Over Alleged Years-Old Rent Scheme

Uh oh!

As I’m sure you’re well aware of by now, Donald Trump is facing down a slew of investigations and lawsuits the moment he leaves the protective comforts of the presidency. Frankly, it’s the reason that the possibility of numerous, personal presidential pardons are floating thick in the air and, if you ask me, it’s the precise reason behind his stubborn, pathetic refusal to accept the results of this election and concede like a normal human being would.

The fact of the matter is, the possibility of a prison sentence is knocking hard on Donald’s door. And according to a new report from the Washington Post, the problems awaiting him come January 20th are just piling up.

According to the report, the outgoing president is now facing a lawsuit from several former tenants, alleging that he and his family manipulated the cost of various apartment improvements in an effort to unjustly raise their rent payments.

The report reads:

The group of tenants from rent-regulated apartments that late family patriarch Fred C. Trump once owned are pursuing a class-action lawsuit, alleging a long-running scheme in which a Trump-controlled company, All County Building Supply, artificially adjusted the cost of appliances and other materials to justify raising rents at more than 30 buildings previously owned and managed by the Trumps in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

The president is a named defendant in the lawsuit, along with his siblings Robert S. Trump, now deceased, and Maryanne Trump Barry, a retired federal judge. The companies that own or oversee the properties now are also named in the suit, because they have benefited from the rent increases that took effect years ago, the complaints says.”

The lawsuit, first reported by the New York Times, was filed in New York State Supreme Court in Brooklyn and names 20 plaintiffs representing a class of victims.

Attorney Jerrold S. Parker represents the tenants and says that if they win, Trump and his family could owe “many millions” in compensation and damages.

Parker released a statement, reading:

This is a massive fraud spanning 28 years, victimizing several hundred thousand tenants in Trump regulated apartments and needs to be addressed. These regulated tenants, many of whom struggle just to pay the rent and put food on the table, must be made whole for the money that was unlawfully and unknowingly taken from them by the Trump family for their own personal gain.”

The Trump Organization has not responded to requests for comment, but a family spokeswoman referred to the lawsuit as “completely frivolous” and unsupported by evidence in a statement to the Times.

Sooner or later the Trump family will have no choice but to face the music — their run of dodging the law and consequences is almost over.
